About Toto
The band Toto was formed in 1976 by guitarists Jeff Porcaro and David Paich (who were also acclaimed studio musicians working with Boz Scaggs at the time) and singer/bassist Bobby Kimball. The group's name was derived from a Latin word that means "all-encompassing" and was determined to explore every style of music.
The third album from Toto, Turn Back, was not a success in 1981. However they made amends with their fourth release, Isolation, which contained two hits with the title track and Roseanna. The album and tour makes them a household name throughout the world.
After a hiatus of a few years, Toto return with the album Fahrenheit in 1986. It's a change from the ballads of their previous albums and also includes some heavy rock. This was their first platinum album in North America.
During the recording process of the fifth album The group loses its manager and is faced with financial problems. They decide to change their name and record a new album with the new producer. The lead vocalist Fergie Frederiksen leaves the band and is replaced by Joseph Williams, son of legendary film composer John Williams and 1950s actress Barbara Ruick. Joseph is more natural as a frontman than Frederiksen and gives the band a much needed boost.
The band releases Mindfields in 1999 and embarks on a massive worldwide tour. After a few months in Europe they head to Japan where the shows are sold out. After a brief break, Toto resumes their recording and releases their first live album titled Absolutely Live in 1993. It also features a cover of Weezer’s song Hash Pipe as a response to the band's performance in Africa during their recent tour. Toto's touring band includes drummer Lenny Castro and bassist Shannon Forrest, as well as keyboardist Shem Von Schroeck.

The album marked a return to form for the group and the tour supported by sold-out shows in North America and Europe. Toto's reunion was bolstered by the inclusion of guitarist Steve Lukather and bassist Shem von Schroeck, who both joined the group.
